The 32nd Annual Newark Mile

4k (2.5 Mile) Fun Run and Walk
Hosted by the CXC4L Alumni Association

Newark Community Center, 35501 Cedar Blvd., Newark, CA

Thank you to all of our competitors, volunteers, and sponsors for participating in the 32nd annual Newark Mile! This race could not have been a success without all of you! We were fortunate enough to have great running weather for the runners who competed on the 2.5 mile course along the Newark Days parade route. We are proud to have hosted a solid field of 192 competitors, by far the largest field we have had in the seven years that CXC4L has hosted the event!

The overall winners of the Newark Mile this year are Joseph Grovers (12:48) in the men's race and Monserrat Roa Diaz (16:56) in the women's race. The fastest Newark runners are Jordan Kirby (12:48) in the men's race and Monserrat Roa Diaz (16:56) in the women's race.

It should be noted that not only did Joseph Grovers and Jordan Kirby collude to attempt to tie for first place in the men's division, but that they both broke the previous Male 15-25 record of 12:51 held jointly by Bobby Rivera in 1987 and Joseph Grovers in 2015. In the spirit of their, er, cooperation, both Grovers and Kirby will be the new record holders in that age category.

This year marks the inaugural race for the 66 and older age category! Our trophy winners and the new record holders in the 66+ category are Ron Kiyono (17:08) in the men's division and Shirley Anderegg (36:19) in the women's division!

More detailed results can be found in the Race Results section of the website.

2016 race photos are also now up in the Pictures section of the website.

Hope to see you all in 2017 for the 33rd annual Newark Mile!
